The WCASV Annual Conference is restricted to veterinarians and is the premier event for our members.  Its goal is to provide high quality continuing education in the area of swine production, veterinary medicine, regulatory and industry issues to western Canadian food animal veterinarians.  It draws swine veterinary specialists, mixed animal practitioners with an interest in swine, as well as researchers, academics, industry and public practice veterinarians. The conference is held in late October in Saskatoon at the Delta Bessborough Hotel.  It provides approximately ten hours of continuing education credits for veterinarians toward licensure with provincial associations. The keynote address that opens the conference is the prestigious “C.S. Rhodes Lecture”, which is dedicated to the founding secretary treasurer of the association and former Dean of WCVM, Dr. Charles Rhodes.  The scientific program committee is committed to ensure that the WCASV Annual Conference remains one of the leading swine conferences in Canada. By engaging undergraduate and graduate veterinary students, the WCASV aims to ensure the recruitment of young talented veterinarians into the swine veterinary profession, and the provision of cutting edge scientific information to enhance the competitiveness of Canadian pork production.
